Backstory
Guitarist and songwriter Cheryl Yates was born into a family full of musicians. By age 16 she was playing live gigs in various bands as the lead guitarist. At age 19 she discovered the fingerstyle music of Steve Erquiaga and Phil Keaggy. These influences, along with her father's thumb style playing and a friend who played classical guitar in college, all led to her passion for fingerstyle guitar.
In 2021 Cheryl gained international recognition with the release of her acoustic single "Fly". Today, Cheryl’s stage and studio set-ups range from a lone acoustic guitar to a wide variety of electric guitars, pedals and gear. For press and more, click here:
